My Resources

Ricardo de JongRicardo de Jong

An internet marketeer’s toolkit should be constantly optimised to provide the best tools when working on online projects. To help you out in starting your career online, here are the current resources I get the most out of on a day-to-day basis.

Please note that most of the links below contain an affiliate id which gives me a commission (with no extra costs for you) whenever someone signs up to the service.

Domain Name Registration

namecheapNamecheap.com: Together with GoDaddy, Namecheap is one of the largest domain name registrar online and also my preferred provider. Besides offering generic domain names for a cheap price, their online dashboard makes it a breeze to manage your domain portfolio wherever you are. With each new registration you’ll also have a free option of activating a WhoisGuard subscription, hiding your contact details from the Whois.

Hosting

host-gator-iconHostgator.com: Hostgator was the webhost I started out with when starting my affiliate marketing career and it still is my preferred choice to this day. Reason I’m still happy is because of the relatively low price for unlimited space and domain names (I have the ‘Baby Plan’), the easy as pie setup for WordPress and the 24/7 support which always helped me out perfectly when running into issues.

Besides that, Hostgator also offers a very attractive affiliate program for you to earn some extra money referring people.

CMS

wordpress logoWordPress: It’s not a coincidence that WordPress powers around 19% of the top 10 million sites on the internet according to WikiPedia. Still a perfect blogging platform, WordPress is used for single sales pages to full-blown E-Commerce websites powered by a large community of developers that power the platform with plugins and themes.

WordPress Themes

Speaking of themes, when you’re done with the free themes you can download in the WordPress Admin panel there are several theme websites that offer paid themes in several categories. Below are two of my favourites where I regularly shop for new and awesome designs:

Elegant Themes
elegant themesElegant themes is a subscription-based WordPress theme service, that contains over 80 theme designs for different purposes. You’ll pay only $39 a year for gaining access to all the themes, which are constantly tweaked and updated for the latest WordPress versions. These themes often will cut it for like 80% of your websites.

Themeforest

Social Media Management

When creating multiple websites, it’s easy to lose track of the countless social media assets you’re creating. I’ve got a dashboard to help me out with that.

HootSuite Pro

hootsuite iconHootSuite showed up in one of my first reviews for Trafficky and I can’t imagine running something else to post to all my Social Media accounts. The Pro plan, which runs for around 10$ a month is definitely worth the time you’ll save in the long run when you own more than 2 websites/brands. You can post a single message over all of the accounts you own and schedule your updates the way you see fit.

Linkbuilding

I’ve used different linkbuilding providers in the past, but over time most of them didn’t provide the results I needed. Because the Google algorithm is cracking down on artificial linkbuilding with each update, I’ve decided to quit linkbuilding altogether and let the content do most of the work. There is a tool which I still use from time to time.

SocialAdr

SocialAdr logoPerfectly suited for modest websites that target low competition keywords, SocialAdr is a social linkbuilder where real people post links from a sharing queue to their social media accounts for credits. With these credits you can in turn have your content shared by other people on the network. SocialAdr recently added a social engage service that promises to manually post unique and engaging content to your social media accounts for an extra monthly fee. With proper use this service can really kickstart your content in the search results.
